I’ve been saying for quite some time that one of the most entertaining results of Obama’s election would be the inevitable heartbreak of his true believers. Politics is mostly useful to crush dreams.

I like Ian Spiegelman, but he was never an “Obama true believer.” Long before the election, he consistently criticized Obama and predicted that his supporters would come away disappointed - just as John Carney has above.
So Ian’s comment above (whatever the merits of the opinion it expresses) does not demonstrate that any actual “moment has come” - other than the moment when two people (Carney and Spiegelman) concur on an opinion that they’ve both already been predisposed to hold for well over a year now.
