Any other other fans of Brideshead Revisited out there?
I don’t mean the mediocre movie released a couple of years ago; I’m talking about the 1981 Granada TV miniseries — otherwise known as the best television program ever made.
If you are a fellow Brideshead fan, you may have wondered whatever became of Anthony Andrews, the actor who played Sebastian Flyte (shown above clutching his teddy bear, Aloysius). The answer — most recently, at least — is that he turned up in the cast of The King’s Speech playing the role of Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin.
So it was with some pleasure that I spotted Andrews on TV last weekend accepting a SAG award — along with fellow King’s Speech cast members Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helene Bonham Carter — for Best Cast in a Motion Picture. I was almost disappointed not to see Aloysius under his arm as he walked up onto the stage.
