I’ve just discovered that Justin Bond — aka Kiki, of Kiki and Herb fame — personally responded to my comment in The Awl about “v,” a gender-neutral pronoun that Justin invented. The Awl piece concerns Justin’s unhappiness with this New York magazine profile, which did not use the pronoun.
I am so starstruck and flattered by this discovery that I’ve instantly changed my mind on this issue: I now think that v’s request is a sensible one that all writers and publishers should henceforth honor in any future references to v. Because v is awesome. Long live v!!!
